Offshore Outsourcing Statistics
To research this article, I began by performing a simple search of Offshore Outsourcing Statistics with the hope of finding some reliable data that I would be able to include. However, after a short amount of time I realized the tremendous difficulty of finding accurate offshore outsourcing statistics. Many of the websites I visited had startlingly different figures for the same categories. Much of the discrepancies of offshore outsourcing statistics come from the relatively undefined reporting practices around the world. Companies that make use of offshoring in their business rarely report all of their true offshore outsourcing statistics. Even among companies that do try to be honest, variations still arise from the methods they choose to use in reporting their offshore outsourcing statistics.
Apart from the negative impact this can have on individual companies that partake in offshoring, misinformation can be detrimental to companies that are seeking offshoring opportunities. Many companies with plans of moving some operations to another part of the world will choose a destination based on the offshore outsourcing statistics that are available. For most this would seem like a logical research venue to help in the decision. However, the unreliability of these offshore outsourcing statistics can cause companies to make poor decisions that will lead to even poorer operating results. There is currently no way of solving this problem. Until stricter guidelines are imposed around the world, offshore outsourcing statistics will not be able to provide you with a proper basis for your decision.
